Arrive at Nairobi airport. You will be met and driven to your hotel in Nairobi, just a few minutes drive from the international airport. Eka Hotel is a modern, comfortable base where you can relax after your flight. If you have time to do any sightseeing in Nairobi today, we'll be happy to help you organise your day - perhaps visiting the giraffe centre or Dahpne Sheldrick's elephant orphanage, or simply shopping in town.
You will be driven to Wilson airport for your flight to the bush. On arrival we will take you to Selenkay Adventure Camp, an exclusive tented bush camp situated in a private conservancy bordering the northern boundary of Amboseli National Park. Accommodation is in two-man dome tents, each with its own flush toilet and safari shower located at the back of the tent. At the camp site there are service staff who do all the work associated with camping like washing up, heating water for showers, doing the cooking and serving the food. You will have an afternoon game drive in the conservancy to start your safari experience.
A full day in Selenkay. All the big cats have been seen in the Conservancy as well as elephants and a wide range of species including large numbers of giraffes, zebra, and antelopes. This is a truly wild area of Maasailand which is only open to a limited number of visitors in order to protect the habitat and conserve the wildlife. You will have the chance to go on a guided walk and visit a local Maasai village today. Between game drive you have time to relax at the camp and enjoy freshly prepared meals.
Early breakfast and then drive through the bush into Amboseli National Park for a full day there with good views of Kilimanjaro and close-up observation of elephants, as well as many other species such as wildebeest, zebra and impala and over 400 species of birds including the bee-eater, African fish eagle and pygmy falcon. Return to camp in Selenkay Conservancy later in the afternoon after a picnic lunch.
We will take you to the airstrip for the flight to Wilson, to connect with an onward flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival at the airstrip in the Mara you will be transferred to the mobile camp in Ol Kinyei Conservancy - a private reserve adjacent to the Masai Mara, with no fences between. After settling in, we head off on a game drive in the conservancy to see some of the wildlife for which the Mara is famous.
Wake up at dawn and enjoy an early game drive in the conservancy on the lookout for the big cats, returning to camp for a late breakfast. If you wish, take an escorted nature walk before lunch. In the afternoon enjoy another game drive in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy with a night drive as you head back to camp, looking elusive nocturnal animals.
An early breakfast is followed by a full day in the Mara Reserve, taking a picnic lunch. Today you'll hope to see the Mara's many big cats as well as the diverse wildlife that inhabits the reserve. If you visit during the migration (roughly July to October) you can also expect to see vast herds of wildebeest and zebra. Even outside of migration season wildlife viewing is magnificent, with the Mara supporting substantial resident wildlife populations including the big five. A fascinating array of around 550 species of resident and migratory birds is also present in the Masai Mara.
To Nairobi, Depart
Sadly, it's time to leave. You will be transferred to the airstrip for the flight to Wilson airport. Here we will meet you and drive you across town to the international airport for your flight home. If you are on a late flight, we can arrange for you to either sight see in Nairobi, or go for a nice meal (perhaps in the famous restaurant, Carnivore), or you could take 'day use' of a hotel room until it's time for your flight.
