Day 8

Ankarana Reserve

Embarking on a hike in the Ankarana Reserve is akin to stepping into a natural museum where over time the weather has etched stories on limestone landscapes and left a network of caves and underground rivers. The rugged tsingy, and dense vegetation have helped protect the region from human intrusion leaving the atmosphere of the land that time forgot. This is an important refuge for the crowned lemur, Sanford's brown lemur and many other mammal species. It's a day well spent.
