Cape Town, Coast and Mountains

This three centre, self-drive holiday gives you the opportunity to see all that Cape Town has to offer, and then head off to the less populated West Coast and then inland to the undeniably beautiful Cederberg. The areas are all contrasting and allow you to experience the variety on offer in this stunning country.

Having a hire car means you are free to explore and make the most of your stay. There is plenty to do in Cape Town itself such as taking a trip up Table Mountain or a visit to Robben Island, the boats leave from the Waterfront, but you can also spread your wings and explore further afield on day trips. The winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are well worth a visit, or if it is the right season (July to November) then you could head to the pretty coastal town of Hermanus to enjoy a spot of whale watching.

Once you have had your fill of the Mother City, then it's off in a northerly direction to explore the West Coast. One of the attractions is the tranquillity, you will experience fewer tourists in this area. There is an opportunity to explore the West Coast National Park and the beautiful azure waters of the Langebaan lagoon. The bird life here can be prolific. Then you drive inland to the stunning Cederberg that has a deep history. This is an untouched wilderness area, perfect for hiking, mountain biking as you soak up the atmosphere and go in search of the ancient San rock paintings, some believed to be 10,000 years old.

This trip offers everything and more. From the modern city of Cape Town with its vibrant restaurant and café scene, through to the ancient rock paintings and the peace and tranquillity of the Cederberg.
