This exciting Botswana safari actually starts in Zimbabwe, at the famous Victoria Falls. You will be met at the Victoria Falls airport and driven the short distance to your hotel, Ilala Lodge which is just a 10 minute walk from the entrance to the Falls. Your stay here is based on bed and breakfast, but there are restaurants on site and in the town.
Even if you went to the see the Falls yesterday, you'll probably want to go back again today! However this is not all you can do here - there are lots of optional activities you could consider. There is the challenging stuff such as whitewater rafting or bungee jumping, or wildlife-orientated activities such as horse riding, or more gentle things to do like birdwatching, playing golf or taking nature walks. For the more spectacular, why not consider a flight over the Falls? You certainly won't be short of absorbing experiences.
Chobe National Park
This morning we will drive you from Victoria Falls into Botswana. Kasane is the border town which is adjacent to the superb Chobe National Park. You have two nights at Chobe Elephant Camp which is on the west of the park in a quieter area. Whilst here you will have game drives in Chobe and also a boat cruise for which this park is famous. The wildlife in Chobe is very good as the river attracts animals from a wide area. Elephants particularly love this park, but will get a chance of seeing many other species such as antelopes, zebras, warthogs, lions, hyenas... and of course the birdlife is excellent.
Chobe National Park
In the dry season from about May to October the river is the big draw and the focus of wildlife viewing, however in the green season the animals are far more spread out through the park due to water being available throughout. In November/December many babies are born so that is always a good sight on safari in the green season. Whatever the weather, two days at Chobe should give you a great wildlife experience.
Today, after breakfast, you will be taken to the local airport for a short flight into the Okavango Delta. Your camp is in an area which can offer both land and water activities so you will see both aspects of wilderness and wildlife in the Okavango from here. It's a wonderful spot.
Game drives, night drives and bush walks... you have another day of exciting wildlife activities in this excellent area of the Okavango Delta. Botswana's Delta truly offers some of Africa's very best wildlife viewing. Big cats are spotted, even rare wild dogs are seen, wildebeest, buffalo, elephants, giraffe. And as you would expect from an area of swamps, rivers and lagoons, the birdlife is spectacular. Your guide will aim to find the wildlife you're particularly keen on, but the whole experience should be a memorable one come what may.
This morning you will be flown by light aircraft to Maun airport where the safari ends. Even up until the last moment this is a trip offering you special experiences as you'll get to see some of the spectacular sights of the Okavango Delta from above. From Maun you take your onward flight.
