Day 1
Arrive Bazaruto Island
Your flight arrives at Vilanculos, where you'll be transferred to the harbour for the boat ride to Bazaruto Island. Keep your eyes open for dolphins who often swim alongside boats. On arrival you'll be transferred to Anantara and shown to your beach villa. Refresh yourself with a shower and change of clothes, then take a stroll to find your bearings round the resort. Meals are included in your stay, so depending on your arrival time you can enjoy a bite of lunch before settling down to some serious relaxation this afternoon. Your hardest decision today may well be at which of the resort's restaurants to have dinner! Lunch, dinner.

Day 2
At Anantara Bazaruto
Enjoy a hearty breakfast as you look forward to the next few days on this lovely Indian Ocean island. The water will prove hard to resist, whether it's snorkelling, diving, waterskiing or wake boarding, all of which can be arranged on site. There are two pools, one adults only and another for families, so water lovers will be in their element. In the afternoon you can relax and soak up some sun, or take a walk along the beach and enjoy the panoramic ocean views. Tonight you might opt for dinner on the beach deck or on the beach itself at Tartaruga, with dishes like lobster fettuccini and beef espetada to tempt you.

Day 3
At Anantara Bazaruto
This morning you can venture inland with a guide on a special ornithological walk. Bazaruto Island has over 180 species of birds, including large numbers of pelicans and flamingos plus many types of waders. Your walk will take in tidal pools and lake known for their abundant birdlife. Later, back at the resort, why not treat yourself to a massage or beauty treatment at the spa where professional therapists draw on eastern and western techniques to leave you feeling revitalised and renewed. Afterwards sit and relax as you sip a refreshing drink at the juice bar before heading back to your villa.

Day 4
At Anantara Bazaruto
During your stay you'll be offered a complimentary snorkelling trip to Neptune's Nursery, weather permitting. The water is amazingly clear here, allowing you to see brightly coloured tropical fish, and maybe manta rays and turtles. If you still have energy to spare you can set out by kayak later for some exploring above the water's surface. You'll have worked up an appetite today, so you might want to reward yourself by contacting 'Dining by Design' who will arrange a private dinner for you, complete with a personal chef, in the location of your choice.

Day 5
At Anantara Bazaruto
Today you can take time to brush up your culinary skills with a cookery class led by one of the chefs. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a few tips and learn the secrets of tasty Mozambican cuisine, heavily influenced by Portuguese flavours and techniques. Alternatively you can experience the thrills of dune boarding, as you race down a sand dune in far less time that it too to climb up there! Enjoy a quiet afternoon on the beach or by the pool, before boarding a traditional dhow for a leisurely sunset cruise, a wonderful way to round off your time on Bazaruto.
