Authentic Rwanda and Gorillas

This is a great ten-day tour of authentic Rwanda. We have included wildlife highlights such as treks to see gorillas, chimpanzee and golden monkeys, and a stay in the little-visited Akagera National Park, but we have not overlooked the cultural side of this fascinating country.

Since its troubles in the 1990's, Rwanda has become a vibrant and positive country whose people are friendly, and whose landscapes and natural heritage is awe-inspiring.

This is a tailor made tour where you have your own driver/guide and private vehicle, and you can take the trip at whatever date you like. You can change any part of this suggested itinerary to make a trip that is just what you want if it's not quite perfect for you. You might also like to know that the price will come down significantly if there are more people in your party.

There is quite a bit of trekking in forests on this trip, so it's fairly active. It's not beyond a person of average fitness though you need to be steady on your feet. It is in the forests of Nyungwe and Volcanoes National Park that you will see the various primates for which Rwanda is famed, including mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, chimpanzees, mangabeys and baboons. And the bird life is superb!

At Lake Kivu you can enjoy the stunning scenery of this massive lake with the backdrop of the Virunga volcanoes, including Nyiragongo in DRC which is still active (it's not close enough to be a worry though!). Akagera offers Rwanda's only savannah wildlife experience and is in fact now a Big 5 destination too.
