Day 1

Arrive In Nairobi

Your holiday begins in earnest when you alight from the plane at Nairobi airport. Having been through customs and immigration and collected your baggage you are greeted by a local representative who transfers to you to the nearby Eka Hotel for an overnight stay. Relax after the journey, maybe enjoying a dip in the pool or mingling with other guests in the bar as you look forward to the holiday to come.

Day 2

To Samburu

This morning you are taken to Wilson airport where you'll board your one hour domestic flight to Samburu. The excitement will start to build on landing. You're in the bush now. Your guide will be at the airstrip to meet you and take you to camp in time for lunch. You'll have ample opportunity to relax, familiarise yourself with camp before your afternoon game drive. Families can join the Adventurer's Club, a family programme providing kids with the opportunity to learn about wildlife, life and survival in Samburu from one of the Samburu naturalists. They'll be enthralled. If you have intrepid teenagers, then the Young Rangers' Club could be for them. Lunch, dinner.

Day 3

Samburu

You've a full day in the Samburu to explore this region, and meet the wildlife and the people. The day starts early so you make the most of it, there will be time later for a siesta if you need to catch up on sleep. Together with your guide, you can choose what to do today, be it bush walks, game driving or a rewarding visit to a neighbouring Samburu community. After your morning activity, return to camp for brunch and a bit of down time, either a nap or a dip in the pool might be in order. After high tea, set off on your afternoon activity which will culminate in sundowners, a must on safari. Return to camp for dinner, chat by the fire and a good night's rest.

Day 4

To Masai Mara

This morning you will leave Samburu and take the morning flight to the Masai Mara. The flight is about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and will give you the opportunity to view things from the air. The airstrip is about 45 minutes' drive from camp. You're sure to see wildlife on the way. Settle in and enjoy a delicious 3 course lunch and have a rest. Afternoon tea is served overlooking the Mara River and then, together with your guide, you'll decide on what to do this afternoon. It could be a game drive or a guided walk, your first real taste of the famous Masai Mara.

Day 5

Masai Mara

Today presents a wonderful opportunity to spend a full day in the Masai Mara National Reserve. You'll set out with your guide in the game drive vehicle, with a tasty picnic lunch packed in the back. As you don't have to return to camp for lunch, you can penetrate deeper into the park, with more chances of excellent wildlife sightings. Each game drive is different, so you never know what you might encounter. Along the way your guide will share his knowledge and wisdom, and answer any questions you have. Return to camp in time for dinner.

Day 6

Masai Mara

Another early start as wildlife is most active before the heat of the day sets in. Perhaps take a game drive to the renowned 'Leopard Gorge', made famous in the BBC's programme Big Cat Diary. Back at camp, before lunch, take part in an eco walk to see how an eco friendly camp is run. After lunch enjoy a swim and perhaps a little armchair game viewing from the deck with a drink. You could even indulge in a relaxing spa treatment or an interesting visit the Masai village. Later take a night drive in the Mara North Conservancy with your guide, see what nocturnal animals you can find.

Day 7

To Lake Nakuru

You can have a more relaxed start to the day. After breakfast you'll be transferred to the airstrip for the morning flight to Wilson Airport. You'll be met on arrival and driven to the famous Carnivore restaurant for lunch, an experience in itself. Afterwards, when you've had your fill, you'll be driven to Lake Nakuru in time for dinner. The drive is around 4 hours, you can sit back and enjoy the scenery as you pass through countryside and villages. You'll skirt Lake Naivasha before arriving at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, overlooking Lake Nakuru and the national park, a haven for birds and wildlife. Breakfast, lunch dinner.

Day 8

Lake Nakuru

Start the morning with a game drive leaving the lodge at 06.30. As well as all the different species of birds, including the impressive numbers of flamingo that flock here, other animals that are found in the national park are Rothschild's giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah and both black and white rhino. Return to the lodge for breakfast and then have the rest of the morning and early afternoon at leisure. Meet up again mid afternoon to enjoy an evening game drive. No two game drives will be the same. Return to the lodge as the light begins to fade, and enjoy dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 9

To Watamu

This morning, you are moving on to pastures new. Your driver will take you back to Wilson Airport in time for the afternoon flight to the coast. You'll be met at Malinidi airport and be driven to the Turtle Bay Beach Resort. It's time to kick off your shoes, wash of the dust and relax into beach life. There's plenty to do here, it's perfect for both beach lovers and water sports aficionados alike. The Kids Club makes it popular with families too, with lots of activities to keep them entertained while you relax in the adults only pool or simply enjoy a good book, knowing your kids are in safe hands.

Day 10-11

Beach Break

A typical day at Turtle Bay starts with a delicious breakfast, the ocean views make everything taste even better. Then you can decide to spend the day as you wish. If you want to be active, choose from tennis, beach soccer, volleyball, table tennis or have a go at water aerobics in the pool. If you want to take time out and just enjoy the beach and the ocean breezes, or enjoy a book in a quiet corner. Why not book on a dhow cruise out on the ocean, enjoy some snacks and drinks as you watch the sunset before returning to shore. Finish off the day with dinner and entertainment at the resort.

Day 12-13

More Beach

With two more full days at your disposal try the complimentary paddle skis and boogie boards or go out on the pedalos. The resort has a dive centre with PADI instructors, and the diving school is open all year round except May. A guided snorkel trip is one of the best ways to see the marine life. The resident naturalist will point out the fish and coral from the glass-bottomed boat before you reach the Coral Gardens and jump in. You may want to explore on land, take a guided trip to the Gede ruins and the nearby Kipepoe Butterfly Project, or visit the local town of Malindi and the falconry centre, and visit the craft market for some souvenirs to take home.

Day 14

Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast at the resort and perhaps a last walk along the beach or dip in the pool. At a prearranged time, your driver will transfer you to Malindi Airport for your flight back to Wilson airport in Nairobi. From here, you will be transferred across town to the international airport for your flight home after a fantastic holiday combining safari and beach.
