Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "As close to a perfect safari as I think you could ever get. Please thank everybody concerned both in the UK and Tanzania for making this totally unforgettable - we have 2500 photos and 90 videos to prove it..."
Tribes Service: "Professional and friendly throughout. We must have changed out itinerary 5 times until we got exactly what we and Amanda thought was the best holiday for us. Amanda even phoned us on the morning of departure to make sure we had no last minute questions and to wish us bon voyage. We couldn't fault the service in any way - above high expectations."
Guides: "We had Joseph as our personal guide for Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro. His animal behaviour understanding enabled us to track down a Cheeteh on our first morning. His birding skills were excellent picking out well hidden birds as we drove along. Add to that a great personality and you can see we were really happy. Equally good but different was Nathan our personal guide in the Olakira camp, he was the equal of Joseph and extremely companionable. He also was able to track down Leopard from his skills and to identify birds easily. We couldn't have asked for two better guides. "
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Both the lodge and the camp we stayed at were very environmentally conscious. They were very good at preserving water and the local environment with no litter and no damage to the surroundings."

Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge
Everything was first class. Food menu was limited but everything was well cooked and tasty. If you had problems with a course they would sort out an alternative. Our bed was 7' long by 8' wide!! and extremely comfortable. The Masai guides looked after us particularly well. A big thank you to everyone there we have to go back.
Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
It was good with a beautiful position on the crater rim but it is a big busy hotel. It can be a fair walk to your room but once there the rooms are large and extremely comfortable. The toilet paper was cheap and nasty as were the little tubes of creamer powder for one's tea. Little things letting the overall image down. BUT dining room staff were brilliant and it is the best place to stay to go into Ngorongoro.
Olakira Camp
The highlight of an amazing holiday. Views from your tent of the Mara river, staff who want to make your visit very personal and special and hot showers whenever you want - just ask for the canvas bag to be refilled!! Great fun! The rooms were large and the bed extremely comfortable It is hard to believe this camp moves every six months leaving nothing behind. What ever else you do visit Olakira it is stunning. We saw 5 crossings of the Mara river by Wildebeest and Zebra but even without that the game and bird viewing is first class. We saw a Leopard for about 20 minutes parading in front of us. Then spend the evening round the fire pit chatting over the experiences you've had. Kenneth the manager was always on hand and had a happy, hard working team with him.

Our Memories

"4 month old Lion Cub crossing a stream for the first time to rejoin mummy. We have a video of it - magnificent!"
"4000 Wildebeest crossing the Mara River. We saw it from start to finish and they came up the bank out of the river only 10 metres away. They were then followed by a herd of Zebra. "
