Tribes Overall: "We had a wonderful holiday that exceeded our expectations with so many memorable sights and sounds. It took us two weeks to adjust back to our way of living in the UK. Sundowners don't seem appropriate with no sun!"
Tribes Service: "Very helpful from start to finish and put together a holiday that was just what we wanted."
Guides: "All the drivers we had were excellent. All very safe drivers and were happy to answers our non-stop questions and point out any thing they thought might interest us.
The guide at Mvuu (Stanford) was outstanding with a very wide knowledge of the habitat and wildlife, especially the birds and adjusted the safaris to suit our requirements. His enthusiasm for every thing was amazing, he was very proud of the work the Camp was doing."
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Talking to the guides we definitely got the impression tourism was providing good quality work that would help many families/communities and also inform the local people about the benefits of maintaining their environment and wildlife. At Mumbo most of the staff involved were from the local community and local craftsman were used for fitting our/servicing the island. Any souvenirs we bought were local so our money was staying in the local communities. All three places we stayed recycled/reused every thing and at no stage did we feel we had an adverse effect on the surrounding environment. "
Accommodation
A wonderful way to wind down at the end of our holiday and relax in a fantastic setting. A very simple, peaceful environment with a very high standard of catering considering the limited conditions they were working in.
A very friendly, well organised camp with excellent staff to look after us and make us feel welcome. The early morning walks were a gentle way to see the landscape and the river trips were an good way to get closer to the wildlife without disturbing it.
A lovely, peaceful place to stay especially at the start of our holiday as it gave us time to relax and learn a lot about Malawi before we saw more of the country. Tom and Petal were very accommodating hosts making us feel very welcome in their home and sorting us out with guides so we could walk on the Plateau and see Zomba town. The food was excellent!
Our Memories
"The highlights for us were the boat safaris at Mvuu. A peaceful way to see so much wildlife, especially the birds, and enjoy the wonderful views of the rivers and mountains in the distance and the big African skies."
