Country: Peru

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "This was our first visit to South America and we really didn't know what to expect. We were delighted with the mix of experiences from Inca ruins, Amazon rain forest to the Galapagos Islands. A wow factor every day."

Tribes Service: "Paul was great, he was so knowledgeable about the places we were visitng, he listened to our needs and made some great suggestions for accommodation for days when we wanted to chill out. Our fellow shipmates were very envious of the travel document that Tribes had collated for our trip."

Guides: "All the guides were extremely knowledgeable and professional. They clearly loved their subject specialisms and their country and this enthusiasm was infectious. We loved the mix of having guided time and free time to explore for ourselves. "

Social & Environmental Responsibility: "We were very conscious that we were visiting environmentally sensitive locations and the impact that toursim may have on these. Our guides advised us on the appropriate behaviour for each location and we tried to ensure that our impact was minimal and and that our purchases supported local people. "

Accommodation

Pakaritampu
In a great location in Ollantaytambo and a perfect place to chill out after the long flight. The room was huge and the gardens were beautiful, we spent hours watching the humming birds. The breakfast was the only disappointment.

Inkaterra Machu Picchu
A fabulous hotel, from the gorgeous private lodge complete with log fire, robes and slippers to the gourmet dining. Shame we had so little time to enjoy it.

Casa Andina Plaza
A great location in the heart of Cusco but a very ordinary city hotel with basic buffet breakfast. We arrived after dark and didn't realsie until the morning that our only window opened onto an external staircase so it and the curtains had to be closed at all times.

Heath River Wildlife Centre
An amazing experience. We arrived at dusk after travelling 5 hours up river, taken to our bungalow lit by candle light. we were very well looked after by the firendly staff, we even had to ask for portion sizes to be reduced.

Sandoval Lake Lodge
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, infact we would have liked to have stayed longer. The wildlife watching from the canoe was spectacular. The food was excellent too.

Casa Andina Centro
A modern city centre hotel with good facilities. fitted the bill for our one night stay.

Beluga
A week to remember forever. Our cabin number 7 was fabulous with picture windows to enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife. The crew was really friendly and accommodating. We had a lot of fun on board in addition to experiencing the amazing wildlife.

Hacienda Cusin
What a fabulous place to end our stay, the room, the food and the gardens were lovely. It was as if we had stepped back in time with the antiques and decor, evrything was so beautiful.

Our Memories

"Waking up on the first morning to see, just outside our window, a vibrant metallic green humming bird taking a drink from a red hot poker plant."
"Snorkelling in the Galapagos and turning around to see a friendly sea lion's nose 2 inches from my mask checking me out."
