Accommodation

Sunbird Lodge
Again another friendly resort - this time a lodge. The setting was superb. We made use of the pool, which was refreshing and the lodges had fantastic views over Lake Elementaita. Food was excellent and there was always a choice for lunch and dinner.

Porini Rhino Camp
Matthew was a brilliant camp manager and host. He joined the guests for dinner at night and was entertaining with all his stories and loved to hear what all the guests had seen during the day. Food was fantastic and the picnic lunches were amazing. The location was brilliant with each tent having a view over the water hole, but not overlooking each other. The guides Daniel and Bill were knowledgeable, friendly and informative. We saw 4 of the big 5 here and had to wait until we were at Porini Mara camp before we saw a leopard, which was in fact stalking a hyena to try to steal its kill!

Mara Porini
David and his team run an excellent camp. Food was good - there is no choice of food at dinner, but both my children ate it and they can be quite fussy. There was always a good choice at lunch. Stanley and Jesphot were excellent guides, had a great sense of humour and were extremely knowledgeable. The conservancy was amazing and I would not bother travelling to the Masai Mara again from there, as you have just as much chance of spotting animals on their conservancy, than in the Mara. I did not like all the jeeps hounding the animals in the Mara, whereas on the conservancy there was only one or two vehicles and the animals did not become stressed!
