Country: Botswana

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "The trip got off to a poor start with rail/air travel and lost luggage problems but this was soon forgotten in the excitement of the experience and the friendliness of the people."
Tribes Service: "Tribes put together an excellent trip within my budget."
Guides: "All our guides were very knowledgable, excellent drivers, concerned for our welfare and friendly. The only issue was communication, sometimes it was difficult to understand what the guide was saying and sometimes it would have been good to have more information about where we were going. All the guides were excellent at tracking and finding animals. Carlton, a Busways guide who we met at Kwhai Guest House, was outstanding in every way."
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "The lodges we stayed in especially Chobe Elephant Camp and Khwai Guest house, made a minimal impact on the environment and used natural building materials and solar power. All the camp staff were local people."

Stanleys Camp
Like staying in a 5 star hotel in a remote beautiful location. Some lovely personal touches like a refillable water bottle with your name on, a table laid with glasses, fizzy wine and snacks waiting in a clearing when we got off the plane, electric blankets on the beds, woken up with a hot drink in the mornings.Lovely food with a good choice, friendly staff and impressive tracking from the guide.
Chobe Elephant Camp
An excellent location. The rooms are very comfortable and even though the night time temperature was low the insulation was so good that we never felt cold. The food was excellent, like home cooking rather than smart restaurant. Lovely home made bread. Friendly helpful staff and superb game viewing. Chobe is a very big park so there can be a lot of driving.

Our Memories

"Wild dogs hunting a baby giraffe (unsuccessfully) at Chobe. The Mokoro trip through the water lilies at Khwai, joined for coffee on the river bank by about 60 elephants who had come to drink. A young leopard taunted by a baboon from the top of a tree at Khwai. The list is endless!"
