Country: TanzaniaOverall level of Satisfaction
Tribes Overall: "Our expectations of this trip after an earlier one to India to see tigers were very high - however our expectations were exceeded beyond measure!"
Tribes Service: "Julie listened very carefully to our requests and came up with an itinerary and accommodation that was absolutely perfect for us in every detail, based on here own experiences which of course made the difference."
Guides: "The guides and drivers (who were more often that not just as knowledgeable as the guides) were fantastic company and brilliant spotters. We liked it better then we had both a guide and a driver rather than when we just had the driver!"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Good"
Accommodation
What an amazing place Ruaha is and Modonya Old River is totally embedded in the environment. Wildlife all around and in the camp - woken by grazing elephants in the morning, lions and hyenas in the night! Fantastic. The staff here felt like old friends and our candlelit dinner for 5 in the dry river bed will stick in our minds forever.
A fabulous setting with breathtaking views! Once again lovely staff and a fabulous swimming pool fed from a spring and then emptied every evening into a watering hole. Only did one game drive here which was great though we would have liked a guide and driver rather than just a driver who had to do the spotting himself (he was very good at it though).
Here we had a hippo under our banda! Right on the banks of the river, this was an idyllic location with your every need catered for. Great river trips, brilliant chance to see African Wild Dogs (very special) and the most gorgeous bush dinner for two. The staff were once again fantastic.
It was very quiet here and we were the only guests apart from on the first night when there were two others. It was nice to be on the ocean! The roads here though were very rough and a couple of downpours made them very difficult to negotiate. However, it was a good place to have a rest and the food was absolutely amazing! Two huge lobsters on the last night!
