Holiday review by Stephen Bloom

Date of trip: 22/10/2011
Number of people: 2
Country: Peru

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "Meet + Greet service excellent but some of tours were poor value for money."
Tribes Service: "Must have more detailed info re. tours - places, number of hours. Simply stating a full day's tour etc without detailing the approx. hours, places etc leaves the tour open to cheating/ theft by the tour operator"
Guides: "Excellent"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Very informative"

Casa Andina Premium Arequipa
Hotel very nice but our room opened onto breakfast courtyard and walkway. Thin wooden door, so quite noisy as people left or had breakfast in the morning. Bathroom a bit cold + no heating.
Casa Andina Premium Cusco
Extra large room on split levels. This was at end of hotel so no noise - much better. Outside we had our own almost private courtyard. Very nice.
Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo
This type of hotel works when the weather sunny. No good if rainy since you have to go outside to use any facilities like meals etc. The room was very ordinary and totally poor value for money. In effect, hotel guests are subsidising their miniature rainforest area. A very expensive entry ticket!
Sol y Luna Hotel
See same as Inkaterra above. This room was a bit nicer but still very ordinary. Clearly these hotels are trading on their environmental charm but offer poor quality basic facilities.
