Accommodation
Excellent for what it is... an old colonial hotel!
Very very good hotel...excellent food but very little attention and involvement in the enviroment. We are divers and the hotel allows people to forage on the beackes in front of the hote; the dive Centre has asked thehotel to get involved in community education etc but to no avail...many other problems with the environment,,,l and there is very little sensitivity or eco- eduation generally.
This hotel is large and although well siutated i would have preferred a smaller hotel and if it was full, i think it would have been a bit like an airport. I would not stay here again although the accommodation is very comfortable and food good. Just too big and impersonal and we got very tired of the 'entertainment'....dancing and drumming every night...( but we are from the continent so this is a very secific remark!)
Great hotel giving a sense of why the colonialists loved this part of East Africa...wonderful atmosphere, lovely pool and walks, magnigicent gardens and very good food.
Again well situated lodge but too many people and became very noisy- a bit like a holiday camp. i would not stay here again and sensitive tourists would not like this if the hotel is full as it becomes very congested and quite unplesant. Would have preferred smaller hotel or camping but we did make this choice bacause it was the rainy season..etc so not complaining just...commenting!
We probably should have by-passed Dar as with the time we had we could not do anything. Traffic very bad and took too long to get to and from airport. One needs two days here if one wants to explore Dar. i think this was my mistake not yours as you tried to dissuade us from going... you were right!
