Holiday review by Mr. Laurie Fentimen

Date of trip: 06/12/2012
Number of people: 3
Country: India

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "An excellent and varied itinerary, some delightful accommodation, especially the homestays, superb food, cultural visits, camping in the forest at Chimonee Dam, good vehicles and drivers and a wonderful introduction to Kerala and to the temples and historic sites of Tamil Nadu. The colour, energy and welcome of the people we met across southern India - a smile was always ready but also we were accepted and left in peace to get on with whatever we were doing if that was what we wanted. "
Tribes Service: "Excellent"

Kerala Houseboat
Not the heights of luxury, but an experience not to be missed. Our crew took a while to warm, but we got there!
Maison Perumal
A great building, a lovely room and very warm staff - felt more like a homestay than a hotel. However, like the other cgh hotels, food is expensive.
Marari Beach Resort
More touristy than the places we had been before, expensive; but a great beachside position, lots to do (yoga, ayurveda, a resident naturalist and a fantastic butterfly garden, a very good swimming pool) and comfortable accommodation.
Spice Village
Excellent accommodation but impersonal, and, like its sister resort, Marari Beach, expensive

Our Memories

"Sitting high in the Western Ghats looking out over ridge after ridge of mountains fading into the distance"
"The overwhelming majesty and wonder of the temples, alive with the energy of pilgrims. "
