Social & Environmental Responsibility: "All the people in the Impala camp seemed to be from Tanzania (except management) and the sourcing at the Tides seem to benefit the local people."
Accommodation
Barbara and the team at Impala Camp gave us the most amazing experience that will stay with us forever, it was so much more than a holiday. Gerhard and Kharidi our guide and driver tried so hard to find us a leopard but it was not to be. It was great fun sleeping in the lovely tent and watching an elephant go past the decking from bed. I could not recommend this highly enough.
Did not bother with breakfast so cannot comment
If you really want to get away from it all this is the place for you. The rooms are right on the beach which we thought was fantastic, but the sound of the waves is very loud and does wake you up a bit so take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. We saw turtles hatching on the beach and the snorkelling trip to Maziwe island was fantastic. The coral was quite colourful and the guide pointed out lionfish, octopus, clams and lots of other exciting marine life. During September there can be quite a lot of seaweed in the sea but it is a very natural unspoilt beach, so personally I would rather seaweed than lots of people. The staff were really friendly and very impressed with the Swahili we had learnt whilst at the Impala camp!
