Country: BrazilOverall level of Satisfaction
Tribes Overall: "All we had hoped for and more. Wonderful variety of experiences and places. Interesting and informative local guides. Smooth transfers and flights.
Felt very safe throughout, even when going exploring alone (with sensible precautions as to place and time)."
Tribes Service: "From the first contact Paul listened to our ideas, discussed and shaped them and brought them to a manageable itinerary at a reasonable price. Spot on."
Guides: "All local, with roots and interests in that community, with a wealth of extra knowledge and sharing about life in Brazil as well as "facts".
"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Using smaller locally owned and run hotels was more interesting and contributed directly to local economy, as did local guides. Ate local food in local restaurants wherever possible.
Brazil is such a big country we had to do several internal flights to cover area wanted (not so good) but nearly all flights were full. Small cars used much of the time."
Accommodation
Simple rustic charm. Very local feel. 45 min drive to Porto Jofre each day but bird and some animal viewing en route. Local accompanied nature trails.
Built up hiilside behind beach with verdant foliage and boulders around. Quite steep 3 min walk up paved path but views from room verandah worth it. Many restaurants close by along beach. Friendly staff. Free tea/coffee and cake in afternoon very welcome.
Simple but comfortable. Excellent river and bird watching trips, and many beautiful birds around site. Tasty variety of home-cooked local food for lunch and evening buffets. Small swimming pool
Rooms small and basic for "superior", but clean and adequate. Lovely extensive grounds including nature trail through forest to overlook Iguacu River. Large swimming pool and terrace. Family friendly. No access to outside restaurants in evening (too far). Hotel restaurant fairly pricy and bar menu fairly limited but good introduction to capirhinas! Closest hotel to Brazilian side of Falls.
Our Memories
"The variety of different types of experiences and places.
Iguassu Falls - so different from other major falls.
Chance sighting of jaguar on river bank in "unexpected" area, where no one else around.
Architecture, history and ethos of Brasilia. Guide's father one of Niemeyer's team so there from beginning and with inside knowledge and passion ."
