Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "We had a lovely trip only marred by ill-health at the end."
Tribes Service: "Good"
Guides: "We didnt have an overall guide but all the guides from the places we stayed at were fantastic."
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "I'm not sure it was beneficial, but everyone we came across was eco aware and it was clear that this was on everyone's priorities."

Fugitives Drift
Nice place, lovely cottage to stay in, very informative tours, nice pool, fantastic views, good food. Negatives were the enforced mingling (I do that for work and quite wanted to avoid having to mingle on holiday), as all the other guests were much older than our family.
Jacis Safari Lodge
This was a really lovely place to stay with a lot of effort put into making each day different - eg dinners eaten in different places each night. The staff were fantastically helpful, the food was good and plentiful (5 meals a day!), the guides were knowledgeable. Toilets apart, the rooms are fantastic - especially (I imagine) if there are only two of you - polished stone floors, beautiful sinks, comfy bed with net canopy, outside shower. Negatives were that the toilet is open plan in the bedroom which became a pain when we all suffered from tummy bugs. Punters should also be aware that the pools are too small to do anything other than get wet in. Games room needs some replenishment of games (it seems that no one ever checks that all the bits of the scrabble board are there at places like this). Also I am not convinced that this is the best place to see game as it is very bushy with lots of places for animals to hide in. This makes the tracking more fun, but don't expect big vistas with herds of zebra. Having said that, it is somewhere I would love to go back to, maybe without the children so as to have the luxury of the room to ourselves.
Rocktail Beach Camp
I loved the rooms here. The food is fine, it is really quiet and peaceful and feels special. It is not right on the beach so that's a pain, and the coast here is really wild - so it's deserted and beautiful but with quite rough seas when we were there. We loved fighting with the waves but sometimes missed a peaceful swim. The dive centre which is only a few steps away is fantastic and run by really great people. There are lots of other organised trips to go on. The management were still new so not much help when asking about the locality. We'd driven there (you have to have a 4x4 or otherwise get a transfer) and had wanted to go off exploring but they couldnt tell us where to go or how to get there. Apart from that they were very anxious that we were having a great time. Rooms are glorified tents but with wooden floors really comfy beds. however you have to be prepared for the absence of air conditioning and the presence of creepy crawlies. The games could have done with an overhaul as this is the kind of holiday where you want to play lots of board games in the evening and they all had bits missing.
