Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "The itinerary was well put together and delivered a wonderful experience. All the organisation and connections went according to plan. Our guide, Isiah, was first class and was immeasurably better than the guides I experienced the previous year with another travel company. On our trip to Tanzania we saw 188 species of birds and over 50 different animals. "

Tribes Service: "Tracy Edwards was hugely helpful in sorting out the itinerary and also providing us with additional travel advice in the run up to the trip. Excellent support and well worth the additional money by going through a professional tour operator. "

Guides: "Isiah was first rate. Punctual, professional and attended to our every need. He had a good sense of humour and helped us achieve some fantastic game and bird viewing experiences. A top rate guide. "

Social & Environmental Responsibility: "We obviously contributed towards the up keep of the national parks and a local Masai village we visited . Good to have the opportunity to help. Good to see the plastic ban in operation. Still used plastic water bottles though but difficult to see practical alternatives. "

Accommodation

Pongwe Beach Hotel
Great lodges set back from the beach. Quality rooms. Fantastic dawn views. Cheerful helpful staff, good food. Great place to stay . Beach and kayaking was fun.

Maweninga Camp
This is a great camp with superb views over the park. Staff were good fun, helpful and professional. Lodges were well designed and beds comfortable. Food was good and loved the views at night. The location of the camp within the park optimises game viewing time too.

Olduvai Camp
Olduvai camp is nestled on a rocky outcrop. Good food, fantastic views and good accommodation. Staff were helpful but seemed less energised than at the other camps. Really enjoyed the stay.

Ronjo Camp
Fantastic wildlife experiences here with lions, leopards seen near and around the camp. Local Masai guard, Tyco, was a great guy and helped interpret the myriad of foot prints within the campsite. Truly magical place to stay. Beds too hard for me but I am a bit of a Goldilocks when it comes to beds. Sorted something out with cushions from the truck.

Our Memories

"The most memorable part of the trip was the safari. The final camp in the Serengeti was embedded within the reserve and lions, hyenas and zebra walked through the camp at night. The Masai guarding the camp provided the much needed security. To see three lions walking past our tents at night under torch light as the Masai chased them away, the leopard we saw direct from the camp and then finally the cheetah that jumped on our truck and stuck its head through the roof 2 feet from my head was special!
