Holiday review by Mr. Martin Salter
Name: Mr. Martin SalterDate of trip: 07/04/2019
Number of people: 4
Country: Costa RicaOverall level of Satisfaction
Tribes Overall: "Excellent and well planned holiday. We do like the fly drive concept which gives us the degree of freedom we require"
Tribes Service: "Alex, our travel consultant did a fantastic job in a very short space of time"
Guides: "The guides on the planned tours were excellent, very informative, friendly and helpful"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Generally the Costa Rican people seem to be very focussed on the environment and conservation. The only down point and quite traumatic was the carnage caused by 1000's of crabs crossing the road between Limon and Puerto Viejo. Drivers just running over the crabs100s or 1000s left crushed. It needs some kind of raised road, a huge expense I know but something needs to be done"
Accommodation
A very different resort and the only one without air conditioning but it is cooler on the Caribbean coast and the large fans in the room worked very well. We very much liked this resort and the breakfasts were I think the best. The dinners were also very good. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was good. The resort of Puerto Viejo was very very busy. Not really our cup of tea but again probably due to the Easter weekend. The area itself is a great location with a long road along the very long beach, so even though the resort itself was very busy it was possible to find some quite spots.
It took a while for this hotel to grow on us but the staff were very friendly, breakfasts excellent and the roof top bar had a lot of atmosphere
We liked to colonial style and location, again staff very friendly and helpful. Great location and a welcome break from the higher temperatures elsewhere. Meals very good. Roads in this area were very poor. gravel roads were fine but the poor state of the tarmac roads was a bit of a surprise. The Suzuki 4*4 coped well though
Our Memories
"The volcano view from the Arenal Monoa
The tour arranged in Monte Verde
Generally the Monte verde area
Surfing in Tamarindo, particularly for the boys"
