Tribes Overall: "We had a superb holiday. Everything worked really smoothly and according to plan. We loved the variety of accommodation styles and hotel types (four of which we would rate as outstanding). All hotels were very clean with friendly/helpful staff and food all v. good/excellent (with exception of 1 breakfast). The activities were all excellent and all guides friendly & knowledgeable. Roads/driving was better/easier than we expected. We would definitely recommend holidaying in Namibia based upon the schedule Tribes developed for us."
Tribes Service: "Service was great and always very helpful. The choice of accommodation and trips was brilliant."
Guides: "Trips were great and either met all exceeded expectations. Hoodia Lodge (Sossusvlei incl. lovely lunch), Walvis Bay kayaking, Camp Kipwe (desert elephants , Mushara (Etosha Park) and Africat (separate leopard & cheetah) were exceptionally good with extremely knowledgeable and informative guides.
"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Above expectations at most - especially strong at Mushara, Africat, Etendeke. It was noticeable that staff at almost every place had been there for many years and were clearly happy in their work (Hoodia strong here) - always a good sign."
Accommodation
Everything about Camp Kipwe was excellent in a stunning location and main building. The suite was exceptional and a real treat that we wouldn't have booked ourselves but were really pleased that Tribes did. Excellent desert elephant drive. Best sunset views.
Great B&B with lovely breakfast. We liked being able to eat out in Swakop.
Room was excellent and evening meal great. Fresh cooked eggs/pancakes were great but surprisingly rest of breakfast not quite as good. Larger place than we would usually stay at which meant it was attractive to coach parties/groups. This meant that meals had to be timed to avoid large groups of people queuing at the buffet, which was easily done by being flexible when one eats. We really liked the wildlife around the site.
Everything about Okonjima was excellent. Extremely friendly and stunning location. Best flavoured/seasoned meals. We were upgraded to View Room (rather than standard room as per itinerary) and really enjoyed the game views etc. Liked being able to watch the animals as we ate.
A different (more wilderness) experience to other accommodation which we really enjoyed. Great location miles away from anything.
Everything about Mushara was excellent. Extremely friendly, lovely grounds and stunning main building. High quality throughout with best game steak. We liked the small ildlife/birds around the Lodge
Our Memories
"Walking sand dunes etc and lunch (from Hoodia Lodge) at Sossusvlei, non-intrusive sea kayaking around seals at Walvis Bay, desert elephant trip at Camp Kipwe, Mushara Lodge game drives in Etosha, leopard tracking at Africat. Accomodation at Hoodia Lodge, Mushara Lodge, Okonjima Lodge (Africat) and especially at Camp Kipwe. We liked the mix of accommodation styles etc incl. the others"
