Costa Rica holiday ideas experiences accommodation places to go when to visit costa-rica map reviews

Holiday review by Mr Stephen Miley

Name:
Date of trip: 28/03/2019
Number of people: 2
Country: Costa Rica

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "Yes loved the variety of locations, such beautiful environment, the warm welcome everywhere, the expertise of the guides and the variety of different animals and birds. Each property had something different that we valued. "

Tribes Service: "Excellent as always. Great to have Tracy's personal knowledge of the country and the locations. And to be able to trust completely the recommendations made - always work out so well. "

Guides: "Excellent - in every location knowledgeable, enthusiastic and good inter personal skills. Carlos in Osa stood out. Such an expert and went out of his way to ensure we saw everything available (we did 3 trips with him). He knew and could imitate every bird song on the peninsula. Two drivers were particularly helpful to Liz with an injured shoulder - one (from Sarapiqui to Bosque) stopping at three chemists to try to find an arm sling (ended up by saying she now have an extra daughter she was helping Liz so much) and one taking us to his local family doctor (driver from Bosque to the Parador). In fact reflecting on it - the conversations with all the drivers were very informative and really added to the holiday - especially last one from Chayote to the airport. And the guide on the coach to Tortuguero was very informative - hadn't been expecting that. "

Social & Environmental Responsibility: "We liked the high environmental consciousness of the country. The way properties had been designed and the impact on the environment reduced. "

Accommodation

Chayote Lodge
Quiet hilltop location, one night in transit, able to walk round in the morning in cool mountain air

Evergreen Lodge
loved the cabin - felt being in the forest - quiet and well equipped. Loved the forest noise and the early morning Howler Monkeys calls. Netting windows added to that Liked walking round the grounds and bird, frog photographing. Boat trips out were excellent. Large property but well organised with separate eating places and good space between cabins so it felt smaller than it was.

Bosque de Paz
Loved the setting - the peace and isolation - and of course the constant stream of humming birds - lovely trails of different length. Bird spotting is hard in the forest so Marco was helpful or rather essential and the Quetzal the highlight. Warm welcome from everyone. Loved Coati wandering about.

Hotel Presidente
little time spend here - but friendly welcome

Parador Resort and Spa
Enjoyed this much more corporate hotel experience for the combination of some comforts not in the other places and the availability of nature in the grounds - monkeys eating mangoes, Macaws on the almond trees, sloth using the hotel placed large ropes to move between trees. Eating good food outside the terrace in the warn evening was excellent.

Our Memories

"Being immersed in tropical nature that was different in every location, the availability of nature in the grounds of every property so between trips there was much to see, having our own resident sloth in the tree outside our room in Sarapiqui who only moved up or down it, two scarlet macaws landing on the palm tree outside the balcony of our room and spending time posing for us !
