Holiday review by Wendy and Anne-Brit

Date of trip: 02/10/2018
Number of people: 2
Country: Bhutan

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "We fell in love with Bhutan, the nature, the people, the ethos, everything. "
Tribes Service: "Paul is always hugely helpful and he, again, managed to put together a trip which suited us very well. I don’t think either of us really thought about the walking beforehand, but it worked so well. It was such a carefully arranged trip from the Bhutan side, with a gradual build up in terms of both altitude and actual walking to the big climb on the last day. Clever. "
Guides: "We were incredibly lucky to have Dawa as our guide and Karma as our driver. Both were thoughtful, helpful, curteous, and nothing was too much trouble. Dawa’s English was exceptional and his knowledge on any subject was so impressive. We threw all sorts of questions at him and he could always answer. Karma was a careful and considerate driver and we felt extremely safe in his hands. They both added enormously to our overall enjoyment of this trip and we enjoyed their company throughout the week. "
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Given the way the system works in Bhutan, we know that money was being ploughed back into the system in many ways. It was good to realise that monasteries and nunneries, as well as children’s education, would all benefit in some way from our trip. "

Hotel Druk
We had a comfortable time, and good to spend the first couple of night in a town.
Crystal Sarovar Premiere
Comfortable room, nice hotel, very good rooftop restaurant. Enjoyed our stay.

Our Memories

"We loved the mountains, the space, the high tree line, the birds, the flowers, the tranquility, the attitude, the temples and monasteries, the people, feeling safe, never being quite sure what tomorrow would bring. The trek up to the Tiger’s Nest was tough, but with spectacular rewards. The white water rafting was a first, and loved it. Sharing temple moments with our guide and driver was very special, as was having the nuns in the nunnery way up in the mountains chant just for us with wishes for a long life. The visit to the farm with dancing, archery, cooking and lunch was a tiny insight into ordinary life in Bhutan. (We realise the dancing etc was not part of ordinary life, but everyone was so friendly and it was fun) Sitting in the early morning at Dhumra Farm Resort overlooking the river and the Dzong shrouded in mist way below us, with a scarlet minivet preening itself right in front of us - a memorable moment.
