Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "Our trip was fabulous and fully lived up to our expectations."

Tribes Service: "Paul was tremendous and we exchanged lots of emails as we planned the trip. He put together and perfect series of bookings and experiences and we felt he completely understood our brief."

Guides: "The local ground handlers organised a smooth series of collections and delivery as we travelled from our 5 sites. We were met at San Jose airport by two female reps and one of them Marie, a college student studying Ecology and Tourism, accompanied us to our first accommodation. She had never been to Bosque de Paz and was as excited as we were. The owner greeted us then and daily. The guide on site was an birding expert and all other staff charming. The next transfer was unaccompanied and unfortunately the driver was delayed by recent roadworks so we arrived at Macaw Lodge late and tired. We did not feel able to take up our planned trip 6.15am to Carara National Park the following day. Megan the manager at Macaw Lodge was able to give us expert advice and we did not feel too disappointed although we had paid for this tour. The visit to Manuel Antonio was guided by William who was outstanding. We then transferred to Cuna del Angel near Dominical and had days on the pacific beaches, aerial walkways and local forest. We then tranferred to Sierpe and travelled by boat on river and sea and to Casa Corcovado. The pilot of the boat was extraordinarily skilled and our guide Johnny was attentive and so knowledgeable. The outing to Cano island was fabulous although the snorkelling fell below our expectation due to damaged coral and cloud cover. Finally the return by sea/river and the domestic flight to San Jose went without a hitch. Unfortunately my partner was mugged and had necklace stolen on the street in San Jose before we flew home. However she was determined that this incident should not dominate our fabulous trip. All our venues were aware of my partners vegetarianism and they catered for us both magnificently."

Social & Environmental Responsibility: "We did feel we visited and supported local people who were determined to value and fight for their local fauna and flora. Especially in Bosque de Paz, Macaw Lodge and Casa Corcovado. Of course tourist money supports goverment ecological policy but clearly the Osa peninsula is being opened up in a way that may threaten habitats. Manuel Antonio is really a zoo as most animals were completely habituated to humans. but this small national park is a major source of state funds"

Our Memories

"The people we met were charming and helpful (bar one). The country was almost without litter. We saw all the animal and birds we hoped to see except a Quetzal. We had many extraordinary incidents with the wildlife including being urinated on by a very large snake from a lodge roof space, a tarantula stealing a dead moth we were looking at and dolphins and turtles coming close to our boat."
