Holiday review by Doctor Katharine Sawyer
Name: Doctor Katharine SawyerDate of trip: 17/06/2018
Number of people: 2
Country: BrazilOverall level of Satisfaction
Tribes Overall: "All three parts (Iguacu, Pantanal and Rio) exceeded our expectations in terms of the emotional impact of Iguacu, the density and diversity of wildlife in the Pantanal and the sheer spectacle of Rio."
Tribes Service: "We haven't marked this as excellent because of two problems:
1. We were not advised to complete the API for British Airways or informed that, even in premium economy, seats are not allocated until you check-in, unless you pay extra (e.g. £92 for two non-adjacent window seats). On both our outward and return flights we were not seated together, although we did mange to negotiate with other passengers to achieve this.
2. We were put in an embarrassing situation at the Jaguar Flotel because we had not been informed that they do not accept cards. We manged to arrange payment by card at SouthWild Pantanal for our expenses at the Flotel but, in the event, their machine was not working. We then had to obtain cash from an ATM at Cuiaba airport which cost us about £8.00 in fees.
Tribes Response: Many thanks for the feedback and apologies for any problems this caused. We have updated the information we send to our clients based on this feedback"
Guides: "All three of our guides really knew their stuff and were very easy to get on with."
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "We have a concern about the coatis on the Argentinian side of the Iguacu Falls. They are becoming very aggressive as people have been feeding them. My husband's food was snatched from him before he even sat down to eat."
Accommodation
Excellent service, wonderful view of the falls from our room, great breakfasts.
Food wonderful. Lovely grounds. Great room.
Room small but adequate. Staff very helpful.
Our Memories
"The splendour and sheer power of the Devil's Throat waterfall at Iguacu.
The amazing views of jaguars in the Pantanal, plus all the other mammals, birds and reptiles there.
The view of Rio from the Christ the Redeemer statue."
