Galapagos Islands holiday ideas experiences accommodation when to visit galapagos-islands map reviews

Holiday review by Mr. Gary Brown

Date of trip: 01/01/2018
Number of people: 2
Country: Galapagos Islands

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "Excellent"
Tribes Service: "Rory was extremely helpful, patient with us when we couldn't decide, and provided expert advice."
Guides: "We had 2 guides. The first was Darwin, who was absolutely fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, passionate about the Galapagos, and helped to make our stay fun by not being over protective and over zealous in applying the safety rules. (Whilst obviously keeping us safe!) Our second guide was David, who was also very knowledgeable but who had a robotic (sort of going through the motions) style of delivery. We found him to be too overprotective in applying the safety rules. Darwin deserves an 'excellent', David only a 'good'."
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "The holiday provided jobs for local people, educated us in the need for conservation, and brought dollars into the local economy."

The beluga was excellent apart from two things: 1. The noise when motoring ( I've been around boats all my life and this is a noisy boat!). 2. The barman ripped us off by overcharging and claiming he didn't have any change when we paid our bar bill. I have been in contact with Wendy in Ecuador about this, and apparently it was a stand in barman who they are not going to use again. Apart from this the crew were fantastic, especially the chef who provided great food, and the panga drivers who really looked after us. The cabin (3) was a good size and comfortable.

Our Memories

"Swimming with sea lions, sea turtles and hammerhead sharks, wow! Kayaking in beautiful surroundings. Being up close to a female albatross and her (almost flying) chick."
