Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "Absolutely loved the whole experience (and this from someone who last went camping 50 years ago and hated it!) This was my first safari, but certainly won't be the last."
Tribes Service: "Tracey was terrific: informative and answered all my silly questions. Lovely brochure to whet my appetite for what was to come, and all paperwork useful and comprehensive. "
Guides: "Matambo was an absolute encyclopaedia of knowledge, which contributed so much to our safari. Whatever was out there, he was going to find it for us to see. Loved his nature walk (developed an unexpected interest in poo). Great driver too. "
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Botswana seems to be dedicated to conservation of its land and animal population. I personally learned so much and hope that eco-tourism will help to progress their goals."

Letaka Camping
Good large, clean tents. Very comfortable cot beds The 'en suite' facilities much better than I had imagined. The camp sites all well arranged, and efficiently organised. Really felt we were alone in the bush, not on top of other camp sites. Stayed in 3 areas, all with something different to offer. Only item on the wish list: ice cubes in the water jugs at dinner.

Our Memories

"Where to start ...? The light aircraft flight from Maun to Xakanaka over such a vast uninhabited territory. The lovely warm welcome from our guide and camp team on arrival. Hearing lions roaring throughout the night, monkeys playing on the tent roof, and finding elephant (and many other) tracks so close by in the morning. Discovering I could live without hair straighteners. The great cameraderie of our group. Sitting around the camp fire enjoying a G&T and re-living our day under an amazing starry sky. Delicious (and copious amounts of) food. The indescribable feeling of seeing one's first elephant. Spotting a leopard. Making a porn video of lions mating! Finding a rare honey badger. My special moment: when a large male lion came within about three feet of the truck, and discovering that if you keep eye contact and slow blink at one, they will do the same back to you (just like a domestic cat). Magic!"
