Holiday review by Mrs. Simone Illger

Date of trip: 22/06/2017
Number of people: 2
Country: Botswana

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "We got to see plenty of Botswana, and Tribes hit our brief in terms of the accommodation and atmosphere that we wanted.."
Tribes Service: "Everything was spot on. If we had to change one thing about our experience, it would have been about being better advised on details of the internal flights (departure and arrival destinations) as we took 5 flights, but weren't aware of just how much of this we'd be doing! Also some explanation of the smaller aircraft they use and what to expect on a flight (may be useful for preparing ones self for the flight). "
Guides: "BT (Little Machaba, Khai, Okavango Delta) Had some brilliant sessions with BT who could spot an animal print or hear a bird call from a mile off. Niq (Kalahari Plains Camp) this guide has great attitude! Love for the job and knowledge of the history of Botswana was brilliant! Picnic with Niq!"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "It's clear that there is a strong ethic throughout Botswana to support local projects and local children & education. Everyone we came into contact with had a clear passion and love for their work and the local habitat. It felt in each camp that we were visiting a family - we were made always to feel very welcome."

Chobe Safari Lodge
A large hotel, larger than we'd have liked - but perfect as on the rivers edge with direct access to river safaris which made up for this. Food was slightly disappointing compared to other accommodation - mainly due to catering for large numbers - so food was often luke warm and meat was disappointing.
Kalahari Plains Camp
A very isolated location, giving you the true feeling of what it is like to live in an area where water is so scarce. The food here was excellent, the staff all so friendly and welcoming. They provided us with a very memorable last nights entertainment.

Our Memories

"Seeing two male lions strolling towards us as the Kalahari sun rose into the sky. Saw a leopard carrying a large bird she'd just killed to her cub. She passed just ahead of us on the track (Okavango Delta). Last nights entertainment at the Kalahari Plains camp provided by the staff. Fantastic singing and dancing that moved me to tears. The whole of our stay at Little Machaba was something that will stay with me for life. It was a memorable camp, location and the whole camp experience was totally amazing. Seeing lots of birds and animals we'd never even been aware of or seen before - the Lilac Breasted Roller, a water monitor, the secretary bird."
