Holiday review by Mr. Peter Deer

Date of trip: 07/04/2015
Number of people: 2
Country: Botswana

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "The arrangements all worked very well and the holiday itself was one of our best. The staff at the lodges were very friendly, as were the guides who were all very knowledgeable. The only thing we had to complain about was the tea and coffee on the BA flights! "
Tribes Service: "Very positive - a personal service which we would use again for a similar sort of trip. "
Guides: "Very knowledgeable and with wonderful eyesight! Obviously very used to driving on the sort of terrain found when game driving. Went to a lot of trouble to try to find game. "
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Difficult to know, but clearly tourism is a major contributor to the economy and hopefully a stimulus to preserving the environment and the wildlife. In Botswana many of the staff and guides travel great distances from home to work at the lodges and possibly the impact on local employment is not as great as might be expected. "

Chobe Safari Lodge
Again, nice position on the Chobe river with good river cruises and game drives. Good sized bedroom, though air con (which fortunately we didn't need to use) was very noisy and the bathroom was beginning to look just a little 'tired'. However, would happily stay again.
Moremi Crossing
Apparently this year has been a slow one for the lodge - there were only four of us there the first night and 6 the following evening - but this enabled you to get to know your fellow travellers better. Again located with good view across river and beyond. The service was very good and it was nice to have the guide join us at mealtimes.
Sango Safari Camp
Smaller camp (12 people) which was full the whole of our stay. Like Moremi Crossing, had a very pleasant atmosphere because of the small number of people and the interaction with the guides.
AZambezi River Lodge
Nicely positioned on the Zambezi river. We were there 2 nights and what with doing a tour of the falls, a helicopter ride and a sundown cruise, we did not have time to use the free shuttle into town. Made a good start to the holiday. Bar a little on the expensive side.

Our Memories

"First sight of Victoria Falls was special - and getting drenched by the spray was all part of the enjoyment! Seeing a large male lion eating another lion - according to the guides, cannibalism like this is unheard of."
"On the last game drive before we left Sango for the return journey home, stopping for tea by a water way full of flowering lilies and then being joined by a large herd of elephants with several playful 'babies' made for a memorable end to the holiday."
