Tribes Overall: "Terrific holiday. It was so well-organised and our driver and guides so reliable. I still can't believe I've actually been to India - it almost feels like a dream! "
Tribes Service: "Very helpful staff. Alex was extraordinarily patient when the couple who were originally going to travel with me and my friend needed to go out and come back earlier. Alex did a great job of dovetailing two trips so that we spent part of the time together but all managed to see everything we'd requested."
Guides: "They were all very good"
Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Excellent"
Accommodation
Lovely old colonial building. This was a good place to start the trip. Excellent service and very good food, though we didn't try the big restaurant, because we were happy with fhe small (coffee shop, I think they called it) one. We were very excited by our first sight of certain exotic birds.
Chilly dining room, open to the elements! Bedroom fine - a bit basic, but then, it was a tent! But the setting was lovely and the service good. We enjoyed the mini safari and the visit to the Bishnoi villages (although this does feel a bit voyeuristic and intrusive...). Interesting wandering around near the camp: I saw lots of birds and a small herd of Nilgai.
Wonderful setting and interesting birdlife (and human life) all around. The food here was the least interesting of the whole trip.
This was fine and the room was very well-equipped, but not as personal a hotel as some of the others. Food was good, plentiful, with lots of choice.
Loved being in such an interesting rural setting. Chilly at nights and glad I brought my hot water bottle. Cold in the dining room at dinner time (another dining room open to the elements!). The wildlife wandering round the camp - particularly the Nilgai - was thrilling to see so close. The two trips from here, the Chambal River safari and the visit to the temples, were highlights of the trip for me. We saw so many wonderful birds, as well as river dolphins and two sorts of croc. Would happily go back.
Our Memories
"Too many to mention! A memorable trip altogether. I'm sure I'll want to go back to India and would be likely to use Tribes again to organise the holiday."
