Views over Rio
Rio de Janeiro has one for the world’s most distinctive landscapes, it’s instantly recognisable.
The city is an assault on the senses in every way. The stunning beauty of the vistas, views that go on forever, the tranquil blue ocean, the beaches filled with colourful characters, the mountainous backdrop, the favelas and the high rises – it’s all here waiting to be discovered.
One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, even if you’ve never been to Brazil, chances are you’ll have seen it in photographs. Standing an impressive 30 metres tall with arms outstretched atop the Corcovado mountain – it’s quite awe inspiring. When you get up close the sheer scale of the statue is breath taking, then look beyond the statue, to the views over the city – they are equally impressive.

Sugarloaf Mountain
Another eye-catching viewpoint, hugely popular amongst visitors is Sugarloaf Mountain, accessible by cable car. For an extra special view, take the cable car just before sunset and watch as the city begins to light up below, and the sky changes colour as the sun sets on the day and the city prepares for another night of excitement and adventure.

Ipanema Beach or Two Brothers Mountain
Closer to sea level is the famous Ipanema Beach which looks towards the Two Brothers mountains. A moody sky, light cloud formations and the surf washing up on the beach as you enjoy a little people watching, make this a good stop off for a little R&R. You can also hike to the top of Two Brothers, it’s a one hour trail that passes through Vidigal, a tourist friendly favela which opened up to tourists in 2012. The views from the top are worth the climb.
It's all about perspective
Each view point will give you a different perspective over the hustle and bustle that is Rio de Janeiro. Even if you aren’t spending much time here, try to visit at least one of them and see the amazing sights for yourself.
