Find your beach

Mozambique’s beaches are a well kept secret and perhaps not the first place that springs to mind for an Indian Ocean beach break – this means you won’t get crowds and you’ll be able to enjoy this little corner of paradise in peace.

A beach break in Mozambique makes the perfect end to a busy safari holiday, or for that matter it works just as well as a holiday all of its own. With never-ending coastline hugging the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, an area rich in marine life, perfect for snorkelling, diving or just chilling out on the beach – what more could you ask for?

Beaches galore!

We’ve chosen a few of our favourite spots though there are plenty more beaches we could mention, but then we might be here for a while!

Vilanculos on the mainland is popular with post safari itineraries due to its accessibility, well that and the sheer beauty of the coastline. Here you have the relaxation on the beach, the local vibe in Vilanculos town and a host of water activities on offer – the perfect coastal break.

Northern Mozambique

Northern mainland Mozambique is a more ‘off the beaten track’ destination, quieter and more remote. Here you’ll find places to stay set on stunning sandy beaches that stretch for miles. It’s perfect for chilling, snorkelling and diving.

The Quirimbas Islands

Those wanting a desert island feel should head to the Quirimbas Archipelago in the north. The resorts cater for those wanting a more casual, barefoot luxury atmosphere to a full-on contemporary private villa experience. Whatever takes your fancy, it comes with breathtaking stretches of beach. We reckon this is the dictionary definition of ‘island paradise’.

Marine wildlife

The warm Indian Ocean plays host to a wonderful array of marine life including whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins and turtles. What you want to do on holiday could play a part in where you stay.

Things to do

There are some superb diving locations, snorkelling is a favourite pastime here too. Some resorts offer scenic flights by helicopter or romantic sunset cruises by traditional dhow, naturally a good variety of watersports are on offer too.
