If diving is your passion, then this is the place to be. Take to the water and dive amongst some rare and unique marine life; hammerhead sharks, turtles, manta rays and the incredibly rare marine iguana. Again, diving trips can be arranged as a live-a-board trip on a dive yacht or from a land based tour.

The Galapagos Islands enjoy national park status and as such there are many clearly marked trails for visitors to explore on foot. The trails should be adhered to, ensuring delicate areas and wildlife and bird breeding grounds are protected. There is a variety of terrain to traverse from lava rock trails to mangrove estuaries and beautiful beaches. Hike up to various breathtaking lookout points and navigate the paths that lead to some impressive volcanos such as Sierra Negra. The landscape here is as diverse as it is captivating.

Horse riding

Another way to explore the landscape is on horseback as some of the early explorers might have done. Horse riding is mainly offered on Santa Cruz island, along trails that take in the beautiful scenery and wildlife. It’s a great way to explore the unique ecosystems of the island.

Mountain biking

If four legs isn’t for you then take to the trails on two wheels. The Galapagos is up there as one of the more unique locations to explore on a mountain bike. Whether you want endurance, fun or technical, you can enjoy it whilst taking in impressive scenery. Have fun and experience the native flora and fauna as you go.

..... and relax

After all the activity, it’s nice to have some relaxing time, either on a sandy beach, overlooking the magnificent ocean as you soak up the sun, or on board your vessel sipping a cocktail as you chat with fellow passengers, the perfect way to end the day.
