Murchison Falls, Uganda

The best time to visit Uganda

You can come to Uganda at any time of the year, but most people try to avoid the main rainy seasons because the rain makes travel and logistics difficult. It also means that grasses are higher and wildlife is more difficult to see. If you're a birder, the best time to come is from about November to March. If your main focus is gorillas, you really can come at any time of the year, but the rainy season is more difficult for trekking.

Uganda's seasons

Uganda's temperature usually ranges between 23°c and 28°c, with the country's high altitude helping to keep the climate cool, despite its proximity to the equator. The mountain areas can be much cooler and the top of Mount Elgon is often covered in snow. There is plenty of sunshine away from the mountains.
