Highlights would be all at the game lodge. Also The Palms service and setting was outstanding particularly on Claire's birthday when the day was brilliant

Boat trips up the Rufiji river that allowed us to see so many birds. Bush breakfasts. Baby giraffe. Clouds of butterflies. Bushbabies in the rafters of the dining room! Huge colony of nesting open-billed storks.

I am sure the other guides from Hoopoe are very good but Muro was so good in all aspects, he ensured the safari was even more special than we had expected. Africa came alive even more when he spoke about his love of what he does, his tribe, the country and his family. The Kirirumu camp at Ndutu was magical, set amongst the trees, with animals (giraffe and elephant) seen within 200 metres of the camp. Sitting with binoculars outside our tent just watching Impala and the birds was a delight. Pongwee Beach Hotel proved to be the ideal place to relax. We had planned to visit the Colobus monkeys, visit Stone Town and go on a spice tour but all that went out the window within the first 24 hours of arricing at Pongwe.

I enjoyed each destination as each was quite different. The sheer variety of landscapes, fauna, trees etc and bird life is breathtaking. I think the visit to Mahale was particularly special as it is in the equatorial forest on the side of the lake with so much more to see by way of fauna and animals , than just the chimpanzees. That is not to say the chimpanzees were not great , because they were very special and quite possibly the highlight of my holiday.

Please see comments above. We accompanied Charlie (Hotel manager) and his fiancé on a boat trip to the Island and snorkelled although the sea was quite rough in was like swimming in a warm aquarium. Spent hours walking along the sands. The rest we just chilled in Clover’s mindfulness paradise. We loved every minute and were really sorry to leave but we will be back.
