Responsible wildlife viewing
I have no doubt that most travellers who visit wildlife reserves and parks want to ensure that their visit does not cause any negatives impact to the environment or wildlife.
I glanced at the odometer as I sped downhill on my bike this morning and saw that I’d reached the heady speed of 20mph.
Toilet Tales and Dung Beetles!
In terms of wildlife experiences it hardly ranks up there with viewing a tiger a few feet in front of you or watching hundreds of wildebeest stampede across the African plains, but it does rate as a close encounter.
A Private Safari in Tanzania
My itinerary told me I would be met at Kilimanjaro Airport by my driver/guide and his 4x4 safari vehicle who would remain with me for the duration of my trip.
My first trip to Botswana, by Luke (14 yrs)

My first night on a ‘posh’ safari
My last safari experience in Tanzania was 10 years ago, when I was that bit younger and a bit more gung ho! We stayed in dome tents in sleeping bags in public campsites, and loved the experience of hearing zebra munching grass outside as we slept (or at least tried to!).
Travel and tips from southern Tanzania
Our adventure started after an outline plan of a driving holiday in France fell by the wayside We thought about where we could go and Safari was soon floated as an idea.
Ever heard of Madikwe?
Probably not, although it’s one of South Africa’s largest and best game reserves, offering an authentic, game-rich safari experience at a very competitive price.
While lions are found in many big safari places, on a recent trip to the Masai Mara in Kenya, I couldn’t believe quite how many lions I saw on one game drive, let alone the full 5 days I spent there! Never in my ‘safari life’ have I found myself driving past a lion sighting and barely stopping for more than a few minutes - that’s how frequently we saw them! The Mara offers great wildlife viewing all year round with resident prides remaining in their territories throughout the year.
