A small friendly guest house deep in the forest on the slopes of Zomba Plateau.

Formerly called Kachere Forestry Resthouse, this colonial guesthouse is situated halfway up the mountain with its own private grounds. There are four simple but clean en suite rooms and the lodge offers a full menu of three meals a day and can provide packed lunches.

There is a spacious lounge/dining room with a fireplace. Outside the house sits in private gardens with views through the trees down the valley. It is an ideal spot to access the many hiking trails of the plateau as well as offering mountain biking, and excellent birdwatching. This resthouse is a good option for a group of 6 or 8 who could book out the whole lodge to ensure privacy.

Client Rating for Malawi 5/5 from 10 reviews

A lovely, peaceful place to stay especially at the start of our holiday as it gave us time to relax and learn a lot about Malawi before we saw more of the country. Tom and Petal were very accommodating hosts making us feel very welcome in their home and sorting us out with guides so we could walk on the Plateau and see Zomba town. The food was excellent!
