Open: Xugana Island Lodge is open all year.

Location: Xugana Island Lodge is in a private concession in the Okavango Delta, overlooking the largest permanent lagoon in the delta.

Rooms: There are eight guest chalets, all with en-suite bathrooms and private viewing decks with views of the lagoon. The chalets are raised off the ground and are made of reed and thatch. Some are built out over the water while others are set back a little on the island.

Activities: You'll be able to explore the waterways of the delta by traditional mokoro powered by the poler and by motorboat. Day and night game drives and guided walks and bird watching are also offered. Fishing for bream and tiger fish is popular.

Facilities: The main lodge building is an open-sided, thatched area set beneath ebony and mangosteen trees. There are lounge, bar and dining areas where you can socialise between activities. There's also a boma with a camp fire and an open air dining terrace. All areas overlook the lagoon. There are mature gardens filled with trees and plants which attract a variety of birds. The outdoor swimming pool comes into its own on hot days.

Dining: Meals are generally eaten communally though private meals can be arranged. The most unusual location is on a candle-lit pontoon out on the lagoon, a two way radio ensures you are safe and your guide is just a short distance away should you need him.

Children: Children aged 6 years and over are welcome. Children between 6 and 11 may not be able to do all the activities, to be decided at the lodge manager's discretion.

Health:
This is a malarial area.

Communication: This is a remote location and there is no phone, fax, or cell phone coverage. The lodge manager communicates with the Maun office by two-way radio and there's a satellite phone for emergencies. There is a guest laptop available with basic internet.
