Uma Punakha by COMO is an 11-room lodge set on a hillside above a bend on the Mo Chu River in the scenic Punakha Valley. All rooms look out over the valley, river, rice paddies and orchards. The lodge combines local craftsmanship and contemporary design to produce the highest quality accommodation and start-of-the-art facilities.

There are nine deluxe valley view rooms with bright Bhutanese wall paintings, wooden furniture and spacious bathrooms stocked with toiletries. Some also have private terraces overlooking the valley. They are superbly equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, TV, 'phone, tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water and fresh fruit replenished daily, safe and free Wi-Fi internet access. There is one one-bedroom villa and one two-bedroom villa, ideal for families. They both have separate dining, living and dressing rooms plus a terrace and are set in private glades for maximum privacy. Villas also have a minibar.

The lush Punakha Valley produces a wide range of vegetables, fruit, herbs and dairy products, red rice and buckwheat flour, much of which is used in the kitchen at Uma Punakha. The Bukhari Restaurant, named after the traditional wood-burning stove, serves both Bhutanese and international dishes. Private dining can be arranged in various locations around the lodge including private terraces and by the river.

The Shambala Retreat spa offers a range of treatments, based on holistic, Asian-inspired therapies, including Ayurvedic treatments, massages, facials and body therapies. There are two treatment rooms and a Bhutanese hot stone bath. Yoga sessions can be organised for guests.

While staying at Uma Punakha, guests can go for walks and hikes in the valley and explore by mountain bike. Staff can also arrange cultural excursions in the valley.
