Uma Paro

Uma Paro is an intimate 29-room resort conveniently located for exploring the town of Paro and the attractive valley. It is a blend of traditional Bhutanese craftsmanship and contemporary design, offering luxurious accommodation and excellent facilities.

Accommodation is a mix of rooms, suites and private villas, all with en-suite bathrooms with a range of toiletries. The superior forest-view rooms feature hand-painted Bhutanese designs on the walls. The deluxe valley-view rooms are slightly larger and have balconies, while the suites have separate dining, sitting, study and dressing areas. Some of the suites interconnect with valley view rooms to form family accommodation. The 9 private villas are set in private glades surrounded by colourful flowers. Each has a spacious living and dining area, a private spa therapy room, an outdoor eating area and 24 hour butler service. All rooms, suites and spas are equipped with free Wi-Fi internet access, TV, DVD player, 'phone, tea and coffee making facilities, minibar, bottled water and a safe.

The Bukhari Restaurant is named after the traditional wood-burning stove that forms the centrepiece of the circular room. It serves authentic Bhutanese dishes as well as international cuisine and is often used by the royal family. The lodge also arranges private dining in a variety of locations including the courtyard, on the pool deck or in your own room. The lodge has its own organic kitchen garden which grows many of the ingredients for its meals. The Uma Bar is open from eleven each morning and serves a range of hot and cold drinks and the nourishing Shambala cuisine, designed to maximise energy and well-being.

The Shambala Retreat offers spa therapies based on holistic, Asian-inspired treatments, including massage, facials, body scrubs and baths. It has 2 hot stone Bhutanese bathhouses, steam rooms, a gym, yoga studio and indoor pool with an outdoor deck.

While here guests can explore Paro town with its monastery and museum, take walks and hikes in the valley and explore by mountain bike. The lodge can arrange various excursions including a full-day trek to Tiger's Nest monastery.
