Open: Tree House Hideaway is open from 15th October to 30th June, to match the opening dates of Bandhavgarh National Park.
Location: Tree House Hideaway borders Bandhavgarh National Park and is set in over 8 hectares of jungle. The nearest airports are Jabalpur (4-hour drive) and Khajuraho (5-6 hour drive).
Rooms: There are 5 air-conditioned tree houses built of wood and thatch by local craftspeople. Each tree house is self-contained and offers spacious accommodation including a living area with sofa and coffee table, modern attached bathroom with 24-hour hot and cold water and balcony with loungers and views over the tiger reserve and Bandhavgarh Fort. Rooms also have minibar, a writing table and chair and mosquito nets. The tree houses are spaced well apart which guarantees privacy. The tree houses are named after the trees in which they are built: banyan, mahua, tendu, peepal and palash.
Activities: Morning (approximately 4-hours) and evening (3-hours) jeep safaris in Bandhavgarh National Park. Full day photography permits can be arranged if requested in advance, subject to availability. The national park is closed on Wednesday afternoons and evenings when a nature walk is offered as an alternative. The lodge also organises visits to Bandhavgarh Fort, to local villages and to see craft workshops and bamboo weavers. At the hideaway guests can watch animals around the waterhole, enjoy bird watching, take guided nature walks and go cycling.
Facilities: The main communal area is built around a large Mahua tree and has 2 floors. The dining hall is on the ground floor, where Indian, continental and barbecued food is served, with 'The Watering Hole' bar and terrace upstairs. There is a machaan (elevatd deck) beside the waterhole which is frequented by wild animals. Tree House Hideaway has a trained naturalist team.
Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables. Private dining can be arranged at various locations.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Health: We recommend malaria prophylactics for travel to India.
Communication: There is internet access at reception, though this can be unreliable.
