You can fly to Puerto Montt, from where it’s a 3 hour transfer, including a ferry ride of 45 minutes, to the hotel. Alternatively you can fly into Mocopulli airport in Castro, the capital of Chiloe followed by a 30 minute road transfer to the hotel.

Rooms: There are 24 rooms and suites. Rooms have wooden walls and floors and picture windows overlooking the Pacific Ocean or Pullao Wetlands. Facilities include central heating, Wi-Fi, easy chairs, a safe, hairdryer, bathrobes and hand-knitted slippers, the last of which you can take home with you. The en-suite bathroom has a shower and bath, with some rooms having whirlpool baths, and toiletries. 10 rooms are interconnecting, and make good family accommodation. The 2 suites are larger with a lounge area, and similarly equipped.

Activities: There are many activities to choose from: hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, yacht trips, kayaking, island excursions and specialised visits, and on arrival you meet one of the guides and together draw up a personalised list of activities for your stay. You are encouraged to meet local people including farmers and fishermen and learn about island culture. You can also visit the local town of Dalcahue, where there are souvenir shops, a handicraft market and church, which you can reach using a hotel bike or vehicle transfer.

Facilities: The hotel has a restaurant (see below) and a bar serving Chilean wines and other drinks, and has a terrace with an open fire. There is also a lounge, a TV room and reading room. Uma Spa has a sauna, steam room, indoor pool and a treatment room for massages and body wraps. There’s also an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel has organic gardens and its own beach. There is a market within the hotel, based on local island markets.

Dining: The chef celebrates island and ocean produce, with tasty breads and seafood featuring prominently on the menu. The restaurant’s picture windows look out over the grounds and water.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome, and activities can be tailored to suit children and families. Baby-sitting can be arranged on request. Health: There is no malaria in Chile.

Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access throughout the hotel.

Notes: The hotel operates an all-inclusive package which includes return airport transfers from Mocopulli and Puerto Montt airports, shared excursions (1 full day or 2 half day per day), breakfast, lunch, dinner and house drinks, use of the pools, sauna and jacuzzi. The hotel accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards, and there are ATMs in Castro, a 30 minute drive from the hotel.
