I loved Tau Pan. Don't come here if you expect "wall to wall game" - but having said that we had fabulous lion sightings and another lasting memory will be the butterflies and the sunsets. Tau Pan is a fabulous lodge and the staff are so welcoming and helpful.

Excellent all round - accommodation large and comfortable, food very good. Verdasco was incredibly knowedgeable and wanted us to share his knowedge. The highlight has to be the Bushman\'s walk which showed us how to make a fire from rubbing sticks, getting drinking water from a tuber dug up before our very eyes! Making soap solution to wash clothes and yourself (and drinkable!). Making and setting traps - we could go on, it was the best and most genuine cultural experience we have ever been on.

Excellent facilities in the rooms, which were clean and spacious. Wonderful views from the lodge over the surrounding landscape, including seeing lions one morning at the waterhole, and sunrises. Meals and snacks were always plentiful and very good and the complimentary water and drinks very welcome. Again, for the welcome on arrival onwards, I felt really at home. Having an extra (third) night would have been well worthwhile.

Amazing. Totally secluded in central Kalahari. The rooms are fantastic with their own viewing/relaxation deck. They even put on a surprise in room dining experience for us on our last night to celebrate my partners 40th. Again the food and staff were fantastic.

Although it is said not to be the optimum time - we really enjoyed Tau Pan - landed at their airstrip and within 30 minutes were out watching two of the local pride - digesting their evening meal. New for us was desert wildlife - springbok, Oryx, bat eared fox, Kori B, Secretary Bird were excellent. Great star visibility at night; and enjoyed sleeping to the sound of the two lions - trying to make contact with their three brothers who were awol. It was quiet - only two sets of guests - so only one vehicle out - so no benefiting from another vehicle finding something. And cold at night as expected. But an excellent place to start.
