Southern Sun (previously known as Holiday Inn) is conveniently located just 14 kilometres from Dar es Salaam International Airport in the commercial centre of the city, next to the botanical gardens. The Southern Sun has 152 guest rooms divided into three categories. Standard rooms are en-suite and air conditioned, have tea and coffee maker, minibar, TV and free Wi-Fi, and some have a small balcony. Executive rooms have similar facilties and offer greater space, and the suites are the largest with a lounge and upgraded room amenites. The hotel provides 24 hour room service.

The hotel is a good place to relax. You can stroll in the gardens, sunbathe and swim in the outdoor pool. If you prefer more vigorous exercise you can head to the gym where there's a good range of exercise equipment and weights, or go for a jog in the neighbourhood using a map from reception. The botanical gardens are worth a visit and the hotel concierge can advise on other places of interest nearby and arrange excursions. 

When it comes to dining you can savour fish and seafood at Baraza, which also offers a choice of fresh, seasonal fare. The cafe is the ideal place for a light lunch or snack and has a selection of hot drinks and juices, while the bar serves beer, wine and cocktails to enjoy as you chat to other guests.
