Location: The lodge is in a 40,000 hectare private nature reserve that borders Namib-Naukluft National Park and is near the Sesriem gate into the park. Flights from Windhoek, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay all take about an hour. The lodge is on a gravel road and can be accessed by selfdrivers. It is 330km from Windhoek, 360km from Swakopmund, 506kms from Luderitz and 750kms from Etosha.

Rooms:  The units at Sossusvlei Lodge number 51: 44 superior units, 6 standard units and 1 junior suite. All superior units have a large, air conditioned bedroom with twin beds, a sofa, tea and coffee maker, fridge, safe, en-suite bedroom with a bath, separate shower, dual hand basins and toilet. Outside there's a deck overlooking the desert. Standard units are similarly equipped, have an en-suite shower room with a single hand basin, and a patio. Thery include interconnecting units that can be used as family accommodation. The junior suite has a bedroom with queen size bed, living room opening on to a terrace with a plunge pool, and bathroom with a shower cubicle, large bathtub, twin basins and separate toilet. The refreshment area has a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, sofa and a safe. Complimentary toiletries are provided in all units.

Activities: The lodge's Adventure Centre arranges a variety of activities including guided excursions into Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei and Sesriem Canyon, guided walks on Elm Dune, quad bike rides, bush breakfasts and dinners, sundowner trips, archery, scenic flights by plane and helicopter and hot air balloon rides, all to be booked and paid for locally. It is also possible to self-drive and explore the park yourself.

Facilities:  The main area at Sossusvlei Lodge houses the reception, adventure centre, a cosy lounge, restaurant and bar. with an upstairs sundowner deck. There are plenty of areas to sit and relax both inside and outside. The outside deck overlooks a small waterhole which is lit at night, and there's a beer garden shaded by acacia trees. The swimming pool has a sun-lounge area and manicured lawns. The hotel has a well-stocked curio shop.

Dining: Meals are served at individual tables, indoors (air conditioned) or outdoors as you prefer. Excellent buffet breakfasts and candle-lit dinners.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: This is a low risk malaria area.

Communication: There is free Wi-Fi in the main lodge building. Therev is a mobile phone signal available.

Notes: The lodge accepts visa and mastercard and cash in Namibian dollars and most major currencies.
