Set in prime Big 5 country, Simbavati River Lodge is the perfect place for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The lodge is in the northern part of the private Timbavati Reserve which shares an unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park, the wildlife is free to roam between the two reserves.  The beautiful riverfront location allows you to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of nature in the African Bush. During the summer months when rain is plentiful it's a beautiful flowing watercourse, and a dry riverbed in the drier winter months.

There are 8 luxury tents and 3 spacious family suites. The tents are well-spaced ensuring privacy. You will have good views of the bush or the water from your very own, private deck. All of the amenities you would associate with a comfortable stay have been included and the decor is modern and contemporary in style. The beds are comfortable and bedecked with quality linen, the air conditioning is so welcome in the hot summer months and also works as heating to take off the winter chill. The en-suite bathrooms have an inside shower and an outside bath with a view, so you can enjoy the scenery as you soak.  The family suites have similar features to the tented accommodation but have the addition of two bedrooms sharing the bathroom and they are built from stone and thatch.

The main area is open plan and spacious, the sense of space is emphasised with the high thatched roof.  Here you will find the lounge, bar and dining room. There are numerous seating areas all with deep, soft and incredibly comfy couches. The neutral tone of the decor is set off with splashes of bright colour in fabric adorning the walls and brightly coloured cushion covers dotted about. Meals are a combination of African and western cuisine. Dining is always a lively and festive occasion and either takes place in the dining area under thatch or outdoors in the open-air boma, under the star-filled sky.

Early morning, afternoon and evening game drives afford excellent opportunities to spot the Big 5 together with the white lions for which the reserve is famous. Birders won't be disappointed either with over 360 species ticked off in the reserve so far. Simbavati is a family-friendly camp and provides kids programmes and amenities to keep the younger ones occupied. Adults can enjoy a little pampering and relaxation at the on-site spa, perfect for in between game drives.
