Shumba Camp, run by Wilderness Safaris and classed as a 'premier' camp is simply stunning. Set on the open Busanga Plains with far reaching views, this is bush luxury at it's best!

Simply built huge canvas and thatch rooms are spread out either side of the main lounge and dining area, all are raised on cleverly crafted wooden walkways. The buildings all blend into the grass and tree line and enjoy a prime location from which to observe the wildlife surrounding it.

The main area consists of a huge outside deck with plenty of comfortable cushions, chairs and an infinity plunge pool from where you can watch the day awake or while away a happy siesta time. At night a fire pit is lit on the deck from where you can enjoy the stars and sounds of the wild with a pre or post dinner drink. There is a large indoor lounge and bar are as well with shutters to block out the weather should the wind and rain try to invade. Adjacent to the main lounge is an outdoor 'boma' area where traditional Zambian fare and other meals can be enjoyed.

The rooms are spacious and incredibly furnished whilst still being thoughtful to the enviroment and water conservation. Huge beds are drapped with mossie nets and gauze 'windows' and shutter doors give views out across the plains. Outside each room is a comfy cushion area on a deck to relax. The en-suite bathrooms provide inside and outdoor showers, a bath tub and robes.

Species which commonly frequent the in plains include huge herds of buffalo and many other antelope, namely puku, lechwe and roan. This is one of the few areas that Roan Antelope can be found in large herds. The shy Sitatunga, an aquatic antelope is also found in papyrus swamp areas of the Busanga. There is a resident pride of Lion in the area which follow the herds with interest across the plains. Cheetah and Wild Dog are also favourite hunters in this area.

Game drives take place in open vehicles day and night and bush walks can be arranged too. Facilities for charging batteries and cameras is available in the main lodge area.
