Open:  Shipwreck Lodge is open all year.

Location:  The camp is located in the Skeleton Coast Central Concession between the Hoarusib and Hoanib Rivers. The lodge can be reached by light aircraft from Swakopmund to Mowe Bay (55 minutes). Then a drive to the lodge is an excursion in itself and takes 2-3 hours. It is possible to self-drive from Swakopmund though a stop-over en-route is recommended due to distance.

Rooms:  There are 8 twin or double cabins and 2 family units. All are en-suite and solar-powered. The en-suite has a shower, toilet and washbasin. The bedroom area has a twin or double bed, day bed, writing desk, bedside lighting and a wood burning stove.

Activities:  Guests at Shipwreck Lodge can enjoy day trips to the Mowe Bay seal colony. En route, you will visit the remains of the Suiderkus shipwreck and the Karimona shipwreck. This area is also home to the abandoned Westies diamond mine and the remains of the Ventura Bomber. There's nothing quite like a desert sundowner and you can enjoy an afternoon excursion by 4x4 to the Oasis water point. A full day 4x4 excursion along the Huarusib River to the Clay Castles, a natural geological formation, you may come across brown hyena here, and if you are lucky the desert lions and elephant may make an appearance. Weather permitting, a beach lunch can be organised. Fishing is also offered to those who fancy catching a bite.

Facilities:   The main area has a cosy lounge with a wood burner, bar and dining area. The expansive wrap-around deck provides enchanting views whatever the time of day.

Children:  Children of all ages are welcome at Shipwreck Lodge, though we feel with the remote location on travel distances it might be better suited to older children.

Health:  This is a low-risk malaria area.

Communication: There is complimentary WiFi in both the main areas and the cabins.
