For discerning safari goers wanting an authentic safari experience with luxury touches, Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp will give you just that. The camp is set in a relatively quiet part of south-central Serengeti and gives guests access to the Big 5 and the annual migration. The views from camp are impressive, taking in Lake Magadi, the Moru Kopjes and the endless plains that stretch for miles.

The set-up of the camp and the classic decor evokes images of safaris of yesteryear. It captures the essence of a pioneering mobile safari camp of the 1930s with modern luxury thrown in. Each of the 12 tented suites has an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet, basin and showers with solar-heated hot water. The decor is in keeping with the style of the camp and will take you back in time. The canvas floors are covered with attractive rugs, large vintage trunks sit at the bottom of each bed. There is a period writing desk and chair.

In the main area, the elevated lounge and bar showcase the dramatic views. Here you will find the central charging bay for your camera batteries. Breakfast and dinner take place in the dining area under canvas. Lunch can be out in the bush to maximise your time in the Serengeti, or in camp if you prefer. The dining tent has open sides, so you can admire the view as you dine.

The Serengeti is a Big 5 destination, there is game all year round, with the annual Migration being a huge highlight for many visitors. Birders can enjoy a trip out to Lake Magadi, it's not far from camp. Seasonally, thousands of pink flamingos flock here and year-round the lake is home to a healthy variety of bird species. Take a trip out to the Moru Kopjes where you will find ancient Maasai paintings on some of the boulders, the landscape here is fascinating.
